WISDOM SERIES: WISDOM OF THE CROSS (III)

[Bible Nuggets 1031 Heb 12:2-4]

Heb 12:2-4

2Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

3For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

4Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.

Who do you want to emulate? Behold the glory of Jesus. That is the way you truly live and become reconciled to God. The more of Jesus we have in us, the more of God’s glory you have. Jesus stripped himself of all the glories of heaven to dwell among us to redeem man; hence no one can regard his situation as hopeless. This is why for example suicide is wrong which is common in North America because Jesus has paid it all. Look unto Jesus the author and finisher of your faith.  If you see someone who is suicidal, tell them “Look unto Jesus and live”.

Jesus testifying of himself and the cross before him said in John 3:14 -16

14And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness; even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

15That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Typology of the Cross by Moses

Moses made a typology of the cross, the victory of the cross over the serpent that had bitten any person who sinned in the camp of the children of Israel in the wilderness. Adam and Eve were “bitten” by the serpent the day they fell and became subject to the law of sin and death.  That old serpent, the devil the bible says will finally be destroyed someday by the wrath of God in Hell Fire. Lets read the account of how Moses saved the those children of Israel who looked by faith on the remedy he provided for their sins.

Num 21:8-9

8And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.

9And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.

The children of Israel had murmured to Moses for lack of bread and water.

5And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loatheth this light bread.

They did not lack bread and water. They only had unbelief that they lacked. They should have trusted God as long as they see Moses holding the staff of authority and power. That staff could make anything in the wilderness. They were walking through the valleys and plains of the shadow of death because they actually had enemies lined up ob the way to the promise land.

No matter what we are going through in terms of our physical need, God’s provision is abundant to supply. Remove your eyes from the problem and look at the word of God

Psalm 23 v4

4Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Phil 4:19

19But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

They missed the point because Jesus is the bread of life as we connect this with the other 2 scripture Num 21:8-9, John 3:14-16 and John 6:35

35And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

The water represents the holy spirit John 7:38

38He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

Earlier, the people murmured for water Numbers 20v1-4

1Then came the children of Israel, even the whole congregation, into the desert of Zin in the first month: and the people abode in Kadesh; and Miriam died there, and was buried there.

2And there was no water for the congregation: and they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron.

3And the people chode with Moses, and spake, saying, Would God that we had died when our brethren died before the LORD!

4And why have ye brought up the congregation of the LORD into this wilderness, that we and our cattle should die there?

Moses in anger (the meekest man on the earth from scripture) struck the rock twice to get water for them for which God was displeased with him and he did not allow Moses to enter the promise land:

Num 20:7-13

7And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

8Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt

bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink.

9And Moses took the rod from before the LORD, as he commanded him.

10And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock?

11And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.

12And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.

13This is the water of Meribah; because the children of Israel strove with the LORD, and he was sanctified in them.

Moses unbelief was what he was punished for. Its like the best athlete in a relay race not allowed to see the finish line or a general seconding his duty in a marathon battle and recalled to base early.

Moses was not ‘forgiven’ because water represents the Holy Spirit

Jesus describing sin against the Holy Spirit says

Mark 3:29

29But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation.

Moses was in danger of eternal damnation. Michael the archangel had to wrestle for his soul and told him the Lord rebuked thee.

Jude 1: 9

9Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.

So it is with us today God is displeased with anyone who grieves the Holy Spirit. Eph 4:30

30And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Prayer Points

1.     Lord Jesus, I look unto you. Thank you for making me to pass from death to life in Jesus Name.

2.     Satan, there is no controversy. Jesus is Lord. Everyone you are holding captive. I command you to release them from the bondage of sin. I break the yoke you have put on them in Jesus Name.

WISDOM SERIES: WISDOM OF THE CROSS (II)

[Bible Nuggets 1021 John 1:  v1-4; v14]

Ref: WISDOM OF THE CROSS (I) –  Bible Nugget 0409

                                                      [2 Corinthians 5:19]

God Incarnate

For the best provision for man’s redemption, He gave of himself to break the power of sin and release us from bondage, alike to if David was not willing to sacrifice his life to get his family back from the Amalekite, the enemy will not return them back to David on his own accord. Satan will not release you except the chord of bondage is broken by the blood of Jesus. Jesus sacrificed his life to redeem us back to God. This is foolishness to the natural mind. Read the account in John 1, where the bible states it in plain language, that The word became flesh.

John 1:  v1-4; v14

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 The same was in the beginning with God.

3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

——-

14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Today God’s promise to everyman is that though you sin be as scalet they can be as white as snow if we  confess and forsake them [Isaiah 1: 18].  The word of God reveals to us who Jesus is. That is the authentic source. Do not live by hearsay. Dig into the word of God and find the truth for yourself. If you want salvation, healing, deliverance, promotion, etc you find it in the word. This is the honey dimension of the word.

[Psalm 19: 7-11]

7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.

8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.

9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.

10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.

Prayer of Faith

1.     Let your word bring light and life to my spirit and soul in Jesus Name. Wash me clean, spirit, soul and body by the water of your word in Jesus Name.

2.     Lord, give me spiritual appetite for your word. Make your word, dearest to my soul. Let me desire your word than silver or gold and make it sweater to me than honey in the honeycomb in Jesus Name. Amen.

COMMANDED BLESSINGS III [MAKING IT AN UNENDING RAIN]

Bible & Prayer Nuggets 1014 [Deut 28:1, KJV]

1And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:

Commanded Blessing Is Conditional and Comes By Obedience

It is important to state how commanded blessings come.  It comes by “hard walk” with God and works in tandem with hard work which the Lord commands everybody to do anyway. The spiritual “hard walk” one has to do to enter into this distinguishing and unending rest of blessings from God is obedience. Obedience is better than sacrifice. Our will to obey has to be totally submissive to God through His Holy Spirit. God pours out common blessings on all his creation. However, not all blessings are automatically poured out upon everybody, otherwise God would be like a robot. God’s blessings are conditional.  Most times, God demands something of a person before He blesses that person. A person has to do something in order to receive God’s blessings. Full obedience is the condition – fully, diligently obeying the Lord, carefully observing and following all His commandments.

Stay Focused

The blessings of God are conditional. Promise after promise is given to the believer, but the believer has to believe God to receive the promises. He has to stay focused upon God and His promises, keep his mind upon them. Only if he stays focused upon God will he obey God and receive the promises. Obedience is an absolute essential to receive the blessings of God. Think about this: if a person is not obeying God, he is not staying focused upon the blessings or promises given by God. Consequently, it is only a natural outcome that he will not receive the blessings of God. But if the person is obeying God, he is focused upon the promises of God’s blessings. Walking throughout the day, he is honoring God by staying focused upon Him and His blessings. Therefore, God is bound to bless him, for it is the honor, worship, and obedience of man that God wants. This is the very purpose for which God created man.  Again, the man who is obeying God stays focused upon God. Consequently, God blesses him, pours out blessing after blessing upon him. All because the man walks obediently before Him.  Are you ready to start this unending rain in your life today? Ask God to help you in every area you have failed him and areas you are powerless spiritually.

Prayer Points 1014

1.      Oh LORD, I submit my will to you. I yield to you in every area of unyieldedness, grant me the grace and vision to remain focused on your word in Jesus Name.

2.      I exercise my authority in Christ and command all my hidden blessings to rain down from heaven. Every blessing that is like dew, pour down as rain in Jesus Name.

3.      My heaven will not become as brass and iron. Every principality and power in heavenly places sitting on my blessings crash down and be consumed by the fire of the Living God in Jesus Name.

4.  Oh Lord, I will honour and obey you from the depth of my heart. Everything I am and everything I will ever be is because of you. Thank you Lord Jesus. Amen.

ANNOINTED FOR SERVICE

Bible & Prayer Nuggets 1007 [Acts: 10:38, Amplified]

38 How God anointed and consecrated Jesus of Nazareth with the [Holy] Spirit and with strength and ability and power; how He went about doing good and, in particular, curing all who were harassed and oppressed by [the power of] the devil, for God was with Him.

Jesus has deposited his powers in my life and every believer’s life to sweeten the lives of others and radiate his power by the Power of the Holy Spirit. On earth, Jesus said to his disciples, he will send the Holy Spirit and “each one of you will do greater works because I go back to my Father in heaven” [John 14:12, paraphrased]. This was literarily fulfilled in the life of Peter (his shadow healed the sick, Acts 5:15) and Paul (anointed handkerchief’s from him healed people, Acts 19:11-12) after the day of Pentecost. The power of the Holy Spirit transformed their lives, becoming clean vessels in the hand of God. A person’s life is like salt. It can sweeten or destroy.  My prayer is that the beauty of Jesus be seen in my life and yours and that we radiate the power of God in Jesus Name. Amen.

Prayer Lines 1007

Pray these prayers with all intensity in the inside of you:

1.     Oh Lord I separate myself unto you. I die to self. Anoint me and consecrate me with your strength and power in Jesus Name.

2.      Holy Spirit let your anointing perform Apostolic signs and wonders in my life and those around me in Jesus Name.

3.     Oh Lord, cause me to be triumphant in every area of my life and make my life fragrant for Christ everywhere in Jesus name.

TOO INCOMPREHENSIBLE

[Bible Nuggets 1001]

Eph 3: 17-21

17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,

 18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;

19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

The human mind is too small to conceive what God can do in all his power and abilities. Only faith in Christ who is the Word of God can bring you to the door of your divine opportunities and blessings. Think of His love for you and you find that it is really deep, high and wide. When you seek for his love, even PhD knowledge of it is not able to comprehend it. He gave you life; He is the Porter and you are the clay. He gives you food shelter and clothing, the basic human needs. He keeps you in divine health, even when your mortal body is weak or infirmed he heals you and makes you strong again. He saves and delivers you from those who are too strong for you to handle on your own. Give Him the Glory. Embrace Christ and you find that your life will not be the same again.

Song

There is a rhythm for the song below. Even if you do not know it, hum it and the Holy Spirit will saturate the love of God in your heart.

“Into my heart

Into my heart

Come into my heart

Lord Jesus

Come in today

Come in to stay

Come into my heart

Lord Jesus”.

Prayer Points

Please pray the above scriptures verse by verse with all seriousness and concentration. Start with the first two prayer points below.

1.     Oh Lord stay in my heart. Occupy all the rooms in my heart. Let your love find root in my heart and make me grounded in your love in Jesus Name.

2.     Lord, perform your wonders and miracles in my life. Let your blessings be outstanding and make my life a living testimony in the mighty Name of Jesus.

3.     Pray  Eph 3: 17

4.     Pray  Eph 3: 18

5.     Pray  Eph 3: 19

6.     Pray  Eph 3: 20

7.     Give God glory and praise and Pray  Eph 3: 17

GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT SERIES – HOLY SPIRIT, THE GOD PERSON (3)

[BIBLE STUDY 0904]

Premise Scriptures: Acts 2:1-21, 1 Corinthians 12:1-31 and Eph 4: 1-16

Pentecost The D-Day of Arrival of the Holy Ghost To Continue with God’s Redemptive Plan – “Fire Baptism”

Acts 2:1-4

1And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

2And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

3And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

4And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Before the Holy Spirit can fill a person, the person has to be convicted of his sins and repent. The Holy Spirit came in the fullness of His Power on Peter and some 3000 people were saved in the first revival sermon of the church. Peter in his sermon preached that the Holy Spirit arrival is a fulfillment of prophecy which the Lord showed to King David of the death, resurrection, ascension and glorification of Jesus. The joy of Jesus became full in heaven because he had completed the earthly assignment he had from God The Father.

Acts 2, 25-28, 33

25For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved:

26Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope:

27Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

28Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.

33Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.

Seek for the Holy Spirit Until you Receive Him

The Holy Spirit is a precious person that you need to seek until you find him, not asking complacently. He will never come or will come in trickle power and presence if you do that. Do not relent until he comes into you in the fullness of his power. We read in Acts 2 that the disciples received him and where able to be used as vessels to perform all the wonders in the book of Acts [Acts of the Apostle]. Spiritual Ignorance can delay the manifestation of the Holy Spirit in your life. After salvation, you seek for water baptism which is a symbolic representation of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Water Baptism compared to Fire Baptism Experience

Water baptism is a one time experience. It is different from the Holy Spirit baptism which you need for lifetime experiences of living triumphantly and victoriously. Just like the glucose which a boxer needs to fight from round to round in a 15 round punishing battle with his opponent. A child of God needs the wine or tonic power of the Holy Ghost to overcome the opponent. The principal opponent is the devil and his demons and the ring is the world with spectators all around.   You need the invigorating power of the Holy Spirit to go through every round of life. The first gift which most people receive to signal his presence is the speaking of tongue which we will go into more specifics in future. Brethren, the Holy Spirit is very important in our individual walk with God as individuals and as a corporate body. The Holy Spirit is the one that does the signs and wonders that accompanies the preaching of the gospel.

Acts 19:1-7

1And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,

2He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.

3And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism.

4Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.

5When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

6And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

7And all the men were about twelve

Sin Grieves the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the seal of our redemption [Eph 4:30]. The Blood of Jesus is the “gum” and the Holy Spirit anointing and power is the seal on your forehead as a believer. Make Friendship & Intimacy with the Holy Spirit, not acquaintanceship.

For unbelievers, they should not attempt to trample upon the Holy acts or name of the Holy Spirit.  Because the Holy Spirit can also make the unbeliever’s life miserable on earth before the person is sent to hell at death. Jesus warned blasphemers particularly.

Matthew 12:31-32

31Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.

32And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

So today if you hear his voice as the scripture says, do not harden your heart. Repent of your sins if you are an unbeliever, or if you are believer of any known sin. Ask Jesus to come into your heart and begin to seek the fullness of the Holy Spirit Power in your life. He will come and fill you with his Power and your joy will become full like a river.

CONCLUSION

In these last 3 studies we have learnt that the Holy Spirit is a Real Person and there was a day He came to reside with us on earth to continue with the redemptive plan of God. Every believer needs him to function effectively and efficiently on a personal level and as part of the Body of Christ. You need Him and your level of expectation is very important to receive His full baptism of Fire like the disciples had on the day of Pentecost. You also need to keep your garments pure and unspotted.  Earnestly ask Him for His presence and power in your life today. In future study we will study the specific gift of the Holy Spirit, that is your specific gift or your part assigned to you by Him in ministering to the needs of the Body of Christ.

Please sing this song of Revival.

Song of Holy Ghost Revival “Come Holy Spirit” [(Peterson)  Key(s):  C/Db]

Verse 1
The Holy Spirit came at Pentecost
He came in mighty fullness then
His witness thru believers won the lost
And multitudes were born again
The early Christians scattered o’er the world
They preached the gospel fearlessly
Tho’ some were martyred and to lions hurled
They marched along in victory

Chorus
Come Holy Spirit dark is the hour
We need Your filling
Your love and Your mighty power
Move now among us stir us we pray
Come Holy Spirit revive the church today

Verse 2
Then in an age when darkness gripped the earth
The just shall live by faith was learned
The Holy Spirit gave the church new birth
As reformation fires burned
In later years the great revivals came
When saints would seek the Lord and pray
O once again we need that holy flame
To meet the challenge of today

Chorus
Come Holy Spirit dark is the hour
We need Your filling
Your love and Your mighty power
Move now among us stir us we pray
Come Holy Spirit revive the church today

Repeat Chorus
Revive the church today
Revive the church today

Revive the Church we pray.
