CHRIST OUR PASSOVER LAMB [V]

 Living Bread Nuggets 1208

Scripture Reading: [Colossians 2:14-15; Ephesians 6:10-18]

The Passover – a Spiritual Warfare

The Lords Supper commemorates our triumph in Christ over the works of darkness by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. God placed judgment on all the gods of Egypt by the Passover of Moses. Their gods were totally helpless in delivering the Egyptians in their greatest hour of need. Just as their gods could not deliver them from the wrath and judgment of God, the blood of Jesus and the name of Jesus are very powerful in expelling devils from the lives of the oppressed. At the name of Jesus every knee bows and every tongue (including those of principalities and powers) confesses that He is Lord of heaven and earth. [Luke 10:19; Luke 9:1, Mark 16:16-18; Matthew 28:18-20]. So both the blood of Jesus and the name of Jesus are our instruments of wonder in spiritual warfare, doing maximum damage to the kingdom of darkness, and giving us the authority to celebrate the spoiling of principalities and powers by Jesus on the cross.

Col 2: 14-15  14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; 15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

Passover in Reverence and Readiness for Heaven

The Apostle Paul gave a whole treatise on the importance of reverence in serving and taking part in the Lord’s Supper, the Christian Passover Meal in 1 Corinthians 11: 20-34. The Old Testament Passover was equally commemorated with utmost reverence [Exodus 12:11]. The Passover was to the children of Israel, the preparation of the journey to the land of Canaan. Similarly, we Christians are on a spiritual journey to heaven. From Eph 6:10-18 we see there are giant evil forces to conquer as the children of Israel conquered before they got to the Promised Land. Let’s review the correlation.

Old Testament –  Exodus 12:11 And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD’s passover.

New Testament  Eph 6:14-15  14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

Their loins were to be girded. Ours are to be girded with truth (Jesus, everything about Jesus for he is the way, the truth and the life). Their shoes on their feet, a mark of full preparedness to move from place to place for the journey to Canaan (beautiful are the feet of those who spread the gospel scripture says). The staff in the hand signifies the rod of authority everyone had, a replica of what Moses was to do signs and wonders. It was to reduce all obstacles to nothingness. We have the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God. Jesus is the Word and in his name every knee obey and bows. The word is our instrument for spiritual battle and our source of victory. The enemy flees when you use the Word of God by Faith knowing you have a superior weapon just as Jesus used it after the 40 days prayer and fasting in the wilderness (Matthew 4).

Eph 6:16-17 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.  17And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

While the enemy keeps sending the darts, continue to use the sword of the Spirit which is a mightier weapon, examining and covering yourself, guarding areas where he wants to have a foothold or penetrate into your life. Note that God’s word is not a magical portion but a two-edged sword, it will it will cleanse you bringing you to the point of total obedience and then avenge for you. When you cross this bridge by faith, God’s word will always work for you because you become totally consumed by the will of God [2 Corinthians 10:3-6]. As the word of God says, God does not take pleasure in the burnt sacrifices of bulls and goats but rather in doing the will of God [Heb 10:4-10].

The Holy Communion – Christian Passover Meal

Anyone coming to Holy Communion, whether a first timer or a frequent Christian should take it with the attitude of the English idiom that says, “The proof of the pudding is in the eating” which one writer explains that it means ”something new can only be judged
 after it has been tested”
.  If you are repenting of your sins and being born anew into the kingdom at the table for the first time, it is better to postpone you taking the meal to another occasion. The Lord supper should be reverentially served and eaten in the following manner by those who are already reconciled to God, that is, those who have confessed Jesus as their Lord and Saviour prior to the meal.

1.     Every person should examine himself or herself that they are in right standing with God (loins girt about with truth). Thoroughly examine yourself; ensure there is no hidden sin that is not confessed. Confess it and receive assurance in your heart that you are forgiven. Otherwise, this could hinder both corporate and personal prayers [2 Corinthians 13:5].

2.     Give God thanks that you have opportunity to take part in it [1 Corinthians 11:24-25], knowing you are doing this in remembrance of Jesus’ death and resurrection.

3.     Exercise your faith to receive whatever you ask God at the meal table because God is a righteous judge. If some eat of the bread and drink the cup bringing damnation on themselves, you can eat and drink reverentially bringing healing and reenacting your physical and spiritual Being here on earth.

4.     It is an opportunity to judge yourself in the spiritual shortfalls you have instead of waiting for God to judge and chastise you which we know is most times not pleasant [1 Corinthians 11:29-32].

5.     The meal should be served and eaten in love, in preference of one another. No form of spiritual or physical gluttony is permitted at the meal table [1 Corinthians 11:33-34].

Prayer of Faith

1.     Lord thank you for the weapons you have given to me to overcome all obstacles on my journey to heaven.  I equip myself with these weapons and use them to cause maximum damage against the kingdom of darkness in the mighty name of Jesus.

2  I celebrate the Lordship of Jesus over all principalities and powers in every department of my life in Jesus Name. Amen and Amen.

CHRIST OUR PASSOVER LAMB [IV]

Living Bread Nugget 1201 [Mark 14:22-25; Exodus 12:1-14]

Jesus Established the Eternal New Covenant

Mark 14:22-25 22And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.  23And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it.  24And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many.  25Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God [also, Matthew 26:26-30].

Jesus did away with the Jewish Passover by giving himself up to God as a perfect lamb, a clean offering to God for meeting the conditions of atonement by our Holy heavenly Father. As Jesus partook of the Passover, he pronounced a new covenant that is a better sacrifice acceptable to God. Jesus explained to them the big event they were witnessing; unfermented wine representing the blood of the New Testament which replaces the Old Testament blood of clean bulls and goats, and the bread representing his body broken for us. Hence the bible says his body and blood is a better testament laid on better promises. Therein lies the way for salvation; the blood of Jesus superseded and replaced the Jewish Passover for the redemption of the soul of man and his body was broken so that we can be made whole and partake with him in heaven with a resurrected body, the marriage supper of the lamb. Jesus had a heavenly body of flesh and bones when he appeared to his disciples before his final ascent to heaven.

Luke 24:39-40 39Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.   40And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet.

Notice that the fruit of the vine will be the symbol of remembrance at the marriage supper of the lamb and no bread would be broken as was done before the crucifixion and as is symbolized during Holy Communion. However, the bread is our symbol now because Jesus’ body was broken (he underwent pain and agony) for us to restore our health. Bread is not symbolized then because he is not going to die the second time.  Moreover, there will be no more people to be rescued from the cures of sin imposed by Adam’s transgression. All that are rescued would have been rescued and all that have experienced the second death would have experienced death and eternal damnation to hell fire. Also, there will be no more curse, neither will there anymore be sickness as we would have eaten of the tree of life which gives everlasting life, renewing our health always in the new kingdom. Would you not want to be a part of this great assembly?

Rev 22:1-3 1And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.  2In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.  3And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:

Prayer of Faith

1.  Lord let me be a partaker in the marriage supper of the Lamb. I want to drink the fruit of the vine with you in your eternal kingdom in Jesus Name.

2. Lord I receive wholeness for my body, soul and spirit as I have partaken in previous Holy Communion and I as partake in future with my family and with your saints in the mighty Name of Jesus.

THE KENOSIS OR “EMPTINESS” OF CHRIST OF HIMSELF

Bible Nuggets 1108 [Phil 2: 5-11, KJV]

5Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:  6Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:   7But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:  8And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 9Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:  10That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;  11And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Jesus emptied himself of his divine deity as The Word of God who had equality with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit to save you and me. He became flesh [John 1:1-5, 14], had to resist sin to the point where his sweat became blood so he can show us that the power of sin is eternally broken and that we can resist and overcome all types of sin. He humbled himself further by taking on the power of death and the grave in an open battle [Colossians 2:14-15] defeating the principalities and powers who held men captive with the intent of dragging them to hell to be eternally separated from God who created all souls for his pleasure. This was what the apostle was talking about, the kenosis or emptiness or servant hood of Christ, and that is why the Godhead crowned him LORD and KING of all creation. The secret was that Jesus being God in the form of man had that mind; a mind that thirsted and was filled with all the righteousness of God [Colossians 1:19]. His earthly mission could easily have been messed up with one sin. Let us hunger and thirst for all the righteousness of God so we can be filled [Matthew 6:33]. That is the secret to receive a future crown and glory from God.

Prayer of Faith 1108

Lord, fill me with the spirit of humility and all your righteousness. Let me be completely broken and remove every form of pride and self from my life. Let my life be pleasing to you and watch over my soul in times of distress and anguish. Give me spiritual insight of your plan for my life and let me hold that vision preciously to the end. Grant me determination to fulfill your call upon my life and let me be focused on the blessings and glories ahead as I pursue your vision and fulfill your plan for my life in Jesus Name. Amen.

WISDOM SERIES: WISDOM OF THE CROSS (IV)

[Bible Nuggets 1101 Rev 12:9]

9And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

The devil is still the Old serpent and its final destiny is Hell Fire

The serpent caused the total depravity of man. When Adam and Eve sinned, man took on the nature of the “serpent”, instead of the nature of God in which he was created because he agreed and sided with the devil in thought, word and action. The devil became his god. The devil came as an ‘angel of light’ to beguile [deceive, trick, entice, tempt, lure] man away from Jehovah God Almighty.

If you have already accepted Jesus and you are a Christian, you are innocent before God. You must strive to keep you garment white as snow. Plead the blood of Jesus on yourself daily; be washed in the blood of the lamb. Every crimson stain will be washed from your heart. Paul warning the Corinthian Christians said”.

2 Cor 11:3

3But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

Hold unto your faith tenaciously. Do not trade it for a morsel of meal. The final destiny of the devil is hell fire.

Rev 20:2-3

2And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,

3And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

Even now the Devil is already judged in the Believer’s Life

Judgment has already been passed on the devil, and as a child of God you have the honour and privilege from the Lord to execute this judgment perpetually on Satan. Claim the promise and see yourself in Christ as set on the throne of judgment over the devil (we are seated with Christ in heavenly places over principalities and powers), and command all his works in your life, over your family and every evil influence of his to be destroyed. Loose the judgment of God on his demons and all the powers of darkness. Rule over the enemy, his works and over all his allies with a rod of iron. This is your heritage in Christ.

John 12:31 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

Conclusion

How do you see Jesus? Do you regard him as your messiah? God made full provision for your salvation by sending His Son to die for your sins and mine. Do you regard or accept this as a solution to your reconciliation with your maker? The wisdom of God through the death of Christ is to them who are lost foolishness but unto us who are saved it is the power of God. God is wiser than you and me that is why he thought this as the way out to reconcile man who was created in His image back to Himself. Come to Jesus today and live. Do not die in your sins by allowing that old serpent the devil to lord and rule over you. Repent today and become a member of the family of God. If you saved you will rejoice in the scripture below because you know what those in the world do not know or have.

1 Corinthians 1:18

18For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

Prayer Points

1.     I dethrone every power of the enemy over my life, my family and over every thing that concerns me in the mighty Name of Jesus.

2.     Satan, you are under my feet. Remain crushed under my feet. You will remain there perpetually until Jesus comes and you are hurled to hell fire in Jesus Name.

COMMANDED BLESSINGS III [MAKING IT AN UNENDING RAIN]

Bible & Prayer Nuggets 1014 [Deut 28:1, KJV]

1And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:

Commanded Blessing Is Conditional and Comes By Obedience

It is important to state how commanded blessings come.  It comes by “hard walk” with God and works in tandem with hard work which the Lord commands everybody to do anyway. The spiritual “hard walk” one has to do to enter into this distinguishing and unending rest of blessings from God is obedience. Obedience is better than sacrifice. Our will to obey has to be totally submissive to God through His Holy Spirit. God pours out common blessings on all his creation. However, not all blessings are automatically poured out upon everybody, otherwise God would be like a robot. God’s blessings are conditional.  Most times, God demands something of a person before He blesses that person. A person has to do something in order to receive God’s blessings. Full obedience is the condition – fully, diligently obeying the Lord, carefully observing and following all His commandments.

Stay Focused

The blessings of God are conditional. Promise after promise is given to the believer, but the believer has to believe God to receive the promises. He has to stay focused upon God and His promises, keep his mind upon them. Only if he stays focused upon God will he obey God and receive the promises. Obedience is an absolute essential to receive the blessings of God. Think about this: if a person is not obeying God, he is not staying focused upon the blessings or promises given by God. Consequently, it is only a natural outcome that he will not receive the blessings of God. But if the person is obeying God, he is focused upon the promises of God’s blessings. Walking throughout the day, he is honoring God by staying focused upon Him and His blessings. Therefore, God is bound to bless him, for it is the honor, worship, and obedience of man that God wants. This is the very purpose for which God created man.  Again, the man who is obeying God stays focused upon God. Consequently, God blesses him, pours out blessing after blessing upon him. All because the man walks obediently before Him.  Are you ready to start this unending rain in your life today? Ask God to help you in every area you have failed him and areas you are powerless spiritually.

Prayer Points 1014

1.      Oh LORD, I submit my will to you. I yield to you in every area of unyieldedness, grant me the grace and vision to remain focused on your word in Jesus Name.

2.      I exercise my authority in Christ and command all my hidden blessings to rain down from heaven. Every blessing that is like dew, pour down as rain in Jesus Name.

3.      My heaven will not become as brass and iron. Every principality and power in heavenly places sitting on my blessings crash down and be consumed by the fire of the Living God in Jesus Name.

4.  Oh Lord, I will honour and obey you from the depth of my heart. Everything I am and everything I will ever be is because of you. Thank you Lord Jesus. Amen.

PRECIOUS THOUGHTS

Author: Esther Agbi

[Wisdom Fountain 0901]

Psalm 139 v 17

How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! How great is the sum of them.

You know, it is interesting to note that something like “thoughts” could be precious. Things like gem stones, gold, diamond etc are usually considered precious. Sometimes, one wonders in thought, what is called day dreaming and it could be sweet moments.

Have you ever wondered, or daydreamed or imagined that people could be outside your home with balloons, camera crew, knocking at your door, waiting for you to open. As you open your door, you are told that you have just won 100 million dollars. What a great surprise and amazement. Such thoughts are sweet. When or if it does come to pass, it will be treasured.

Today’s scripture tells us that God, your Father’s thoughts towards you are precious. “thoughts” , not one, two or three… but numerous. Anytime he thinks about you, something good races through his mind. How marvelous that sounds. It gives me great joy just to know that God is concerned about my well being and yours.

Jer.29 v. 11 “For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end”.

That expected end that God has for you will surely come to pass in Jesus Name. Amen.

Prayer Points

1.     Lord thank you for the marvelous thoughts you always have for me. Thank for placing my name in your good book for a blessing always in Jesus Name.

2.     Every good thing God has destined to bless me with will surely happen in Jesus Name. No devil from the pit of hell or his agents will be able to stop it in Jesus Name. Amen.
