The Borrowed Life

Bible Nugget 0307 [Galatians 2 v 20-21 (KJV)]

20I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

21I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

The crucified Christian lives a borrowed life. A life totally submissive to the will of God. Jesus, in the garden of Gethsemane before going to the cross said, not my will but God The Father’s will be done. Although he had set his face steadfastly to die for mankind, he had to conquer the fear of death by submitting to the absolute will of God.

Matthew 26:39

39And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

John the Baptist, the forerunner of Christ in John 3:30, said of Jesus, “he must increase and I must decrease”. And Jesus said in John 12:24

24Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

A disciple of Christ must be willing to give up everything to win Christ. As you journey in your Christian race, remove every weight that slows you down in your service to the Lord. Focus on Jesus. Let it weigh on your mind constantly, the great sacrifice Jesus had to pay to redeem you. He left all the glories of heaven. As you allow the character of Christ to grow in your life, you become deadened to sin and its affection, the love of God will replace the love of the world and you set your affections on things above, not earthly things.

On the contrary, to live an uncrucified life is frustrating the grace of God. It means, allowing other things to increase at the expense of Christ.  It means allowing the spirit of pride to dominate you and it means resisting the will of God. That is not my portion and that will not be your portion in Jesus Name. Amen.

 Prayer Nugget 0307

1.      First, thank God for your salvation. “Lord thank you for my salvation and your measureless love towards me. Thank you for the finished work of Christ on the cross of Calvary. I am set free from the law of sin and death and now I have a new identity in Christ. I am crucified with Christ. Thank you for my new life. I will live for Jesus day by day. My life has purpose and meaning in Jesus name.”

2.      I put on the righteousness of Christ and cast away every shadow of darkness in my life. I release myself from every form of bondage to Satan. I entrust my life to Christ and devotedly serve him in Jesus Name. Amen.

3.      The death of Christ will not be in vain in my life. I will not frustrate the grace of God in my life in Jesus name.

4.        Oh Lord, I overcome every temptation trying to rob me of my salvation. I refuse to submit to the works of the flesh. Nothing will separate me from the love of God in Jesus Name. Amen.

BRANDED BY CHRIST

Bible Nugget 0305 [GAL 6: 17, KJV]

17From henceforth let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus.

Being an ardent believer in Christ is not showmanship. It is a separation from darkness to light, from weak to strong, from defeat to victory, from mourning to dancing, from sadness to joy and from disgrace to favour.  The gifts and calling of God is without repentance, that is, God will not abandon someone who is walking in the light, doing the will of God and working in His vineyard. The person serving the Lord fervently is not perturbed by the persecution he receives because he has more important things on his mind: to know what the Lord wants to do next.

The mark of Christ is a mark of ownership by Christ. We all know slave trade was evil (except those still living in the dark ages), but lets compare it to what happens in a typical slave market. It means the person is sold out. He is already branded by his master, so anyone trying to offer a higher price is wasting his or her time. Paul is telling us in the above verse that he is branded for Christ. I am branded for Christ. What about you? The amplified version describes the verse vividly as follows:

Gal:617 (Amplified)

17From now on let no person trouble me [by [l]making it necessary for me to vindicate my apostolic authority and the divine truth of my Gospel], for I bear on my body the [brand] marks of the Lord Jesus [the wounds, scars, and other outward evidence of persecutions–these testify to His ownership of me]!

Spiritually, one can only have one master at a time. God can be your Father of the devil can be your master.

Eph 2: 1-2 reads:

1And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

2Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

So the question at this time is who do you want to be your master? Make Jesus the Lord and Master of your life and you become branded for Christ.

Prayer Nugget 0305

Decree the following prayers upon your self:

  1. I am branded for Christ I have been delivered from darkness to light. Let the glorious light of the gospel shine perpetually upon me in Jesus Name.
  2. Oh Lord, preserve my soul and my life from every spiritual and physical danger as I proclaim your word in Jesus Name.
  3. Oh Lord I release myself unto you. You are the potter and I am the clay. Meld me, make me and use me to do your will in Jesus Name.
  4. Every troubler’s of my Israel (or my peace) receive the stones of Fire in Jesus Name.

      5.   Oh Lord, let your seal of ownership by the blood of Jesus become more and more vivid in my life in Jesus Name.

Graduates in the School of Faith

Bible Nugget 0228 [Hebrew 11: 32-37, KJV]

32And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:

33Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions.

34Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.

35Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:

36And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:

 37They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;

There are achievers and there are great achievers. Hebrew 11 is a roll call of great achievers for the kingdom of God. These were ordinary men like you and me. What distinguished them was their total submission to the will of God for their lives. Their hearts were transformed choosing to pursue God wholeheartedly. They pleased God with their faith in His Mighty Power.  When severe unfavorable situations confronted them, their faith increased to match the threat. They believed the LORD’s report and not the threats of their adversary. They refused to live in fear. For example, David when he was yet a youth confronted and killed a bear and then a lion. These were trainings so that when he confronted the giant Goliath  with a catapult and five pebbles while his opponent came against him with spears and arrows his faith rose to meet the challenges. This story is a classic and we highlight some verses as events occurred in 1 Samuel 17:1-58

1Now the Philistines gathered together their armies to battle, and were gathered together at Shochoh, which belongeth to Judah,…..

2And Saul and the men of Israel were gathered together, and pitched by the valley of Elah, and

4And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span.

5And he had an helmet of brass upon his head, and he was armed with a coat of mail; and the weight of the coat was five thousand shekels of brass.

8And he stood and cried unto the armies of Israel, and said unto them, Why are ye come out to set your battle in array? am not I a Philistine, and ye servants to Saul? choose you a man for you, and let him come down to me.

9If he be able to fight with me, and to kill me, then will we be your servants: but if I prevail against him, and kill him, then shall ye be our servants, and serve us.

David, being the youngest of the eight sons of Jesse, kept his father’s sheep and visited the battle field to bring lunch to his brothers. The whole camp of Israel were cringing in fear at the sound of the voice of Goliath, so that when David confronted Goliath, Goliath disdained David wondering whether this was the best Israel could offer in battle.

40And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd’s bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine.

41And the Philistine came on and drew near unto David; and the man that bare the shield went before him.

42And when the Philistine looked about, and saw David, he disdained him: for he was but a youth, and ruddy, and of a fair countenance.

43And the Philistine said unto David, Am I a dog, that thou comest to me with staves? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.

44And the Philistine said to David, Come to me, and I will give thy flesh unto the fowls of the air, and to the beasts of the field.

45Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.

46This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.

47And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD’s, and he will give you into our hands.

48And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came, and drew nigh to meet David, that David hastened, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine.

49And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth.

50So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David.

51Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. And when the Philistines saw their champion was dead, they fled.

Goliath knew Israel had a God and heard stories of how he delivered them from their enemies. He challenged everyone including King Saul to come fight him because he saw fear in their eyes. Fear cannot bring promotion. Goliath did not know that David’s faith was built solid on God and not in the sling and five stones.

No matter the situation you are in now, your faith can rise above the problem and secure your deliverance. God’s miracles are diverse. He knows the cord that is discordant in your life. Release yourself and let him have his way in your life. Continue to trust God and learn in his University of Faith.

Prayer Nugget 0228

Lord, help me to live a life of faith. I trust you wholeheartedly. I trust in your ability. You are the almighty God, most Holy, most powerful and praiseworthy. To you all nations and the inhabitants bow. None can withstand your power in battle and the fierceness of your anger. Send your fire to consume as stubble everything opposing my progress. Arise on my behalf and all your enemies will be scattered. Grant me high marks in your school of faith in Jesus name. Let me be a valiant soldier for Christ and march on into the battle to win the souls of men for your kingdom in Jesus name. Strengthen my hands in spiritual warfare so that a bow of steel will be broken by my hands. Make my feet like hinds feet so I can leap over walls. Grant me breakthroughs and deliverance from everyone too strong for me. Send angelic help to assist me in my hour of need in Jesus name. Amen.

Desire a better house

Bible Nugget 0227 [2 Cor. 1 v 5-8 (KJV)]

1For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

2For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:

3If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.

4For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.

5Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.

6Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:

Man has a spirit and soul which live in a natural body. After the fall of Adam and Eve, sin and death came into effect and part of the curse was that his body will return back to the dust [Gen 3: 19]. As said in Ecclesiastes there is a time to be born and a time to die. No body is spared. Rich and poor, the young and old, everyone will appear before God. Are you prepared to appear before the white throne judgment of God? It will be the greatest mistake to live your life here on earth and not believe there is another life after death.

In the above scripture, corroborated by other we learn that after death here on earth, the spirit and soul returns back to his maker for judgment. God will provide a new body or house for the soul and spirit. Each soul and spirit still carries the weight of unrepented sins.  The person who has dies without having repented or made peace with God will be sent to hell, which is the second death. God said in Ezekiel “All souls are mine”. Ezekiel 18:4

4Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.

The person who has lived a life for God here on earth, made peace with his maker, will receive a glorified body which cannot die in hell because God places his approval on it. It’s like a product through an assembly line. Each product receives certification by the manufacturer. The one that does not meet spec get’s rejected. There will be no mismatch. A spirit, soul and earthly body that lived a life of sin here on earth will be rejected and sent to hell. God is not a cruel judge, happily sending men to hell. His throne is established upon righteousness and truth. God has made provision for the salvation of every spirit, soul and body through the death and resurrection of Christ. To the saved, live a life of holiness here on earth asking God to preserve your body, soul and spirit perfect before Him always. Constantly wash your garments with the blood of Jesus, leaving no stain of sin. 1 Thessalonians 5:23

23And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Prayer Nugget 0227

Lord I present myself to you: spirit, soul and body. Wash me clean by your precious blood. Make my body a living sacrifice, wholly acceptable to you. Lord thank you for sanctifying and clothing my spirit and soul with this body. Thank you for the better body I will receive during and after resurrection. Thank you for granting me victory in this life and thank you because it is not only in this life I have hope. Thank you for your presence that gives me confidence and thank you because you live I can face tomorrow. Envelope me with your Holy Spirit. Let me live my life on earth with the consciousness of heaven in Jesus Name. Amen.

I am Triumphant and have the Sweet Savour Of Christ

Bible Nugget 0225 [2 Corinthians 2:14-17]

14Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.

15For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:

16To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?

17For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.

This was the first Bible Nugget, the Holy Spirit ministered to me when I began to lay the groundwork for the bible and prayer nugget, an arm of the Christ our Wisdom and Power Missions. I meditate on this scripture from time to time;  and it always make me exude great confidence that I am triumphant always in Christ, as long as I am in right standing with God. Jesus sweetens lives and as a disciple of Jesus, a Christian’s life should radiate the glory and power that Jesus radiates on us. When Jesus was on earth, he healed the sick, raised the dead, healed the broken hearted, comforted those who were mourning and gave liberty to those who were in bondage. How sweet-smelling his life was?

Acts 10:38, Amplified bible reads

38How God anointed and consecrated Jesus of Nazareth with the [Holy] Spirit and with strength and ability and power; how He went about doing good and, [f]in particular, curing all who were harassed and oppressed by [the power of] the devil, for God was with Him.

Jesus has deposited his powers in my life and every believer’s life to sweeten the lives of others and radiate his power by the Power of the Holy Spirit. On earth, Jesus said we to his disciples, he will send the Holy Spirit and “each one of you will do greater works because I go back to my Father in heaven” [John 14:12, paraphrased]. This was literarily fulfilled in the life of Peter (his shadow healed the sick, Acts 5:15) and Paul (anointed handkerchief’s from him healed people, Acts 19:11-12) after the day of Pentecost. The power of the Holy Spirit transformed their lives, becoming clean vessels in the hand of God. A person’s life is like salt. It can sweeten or destroy.  My prayer is that the beauty of Jesus be seen in your life and that you radiate the power of God in Jesus Name. Amen.

Prayer Nugget 0225

Lord I thank you for making me to be victorious in Christ. Thank you for the victories I have had in spiritual battles. Oh Lord, let my life continue to be a sweet fragrance, imparting the lives of others with the power of your Holy Spirit. Lord, I consecrate ,my life unto you. Make me, meld me, heal me, use me to the glory of your kingdom. No part of my life shall be wasted anymore. I will live for Jesus day after day. Anoint me with your spirit and power to do the works that you did and the greater works you promised that your disciples would do. Let my life minister grace to others in Jesus Name. Amen.

The humility of Jesus

Bible Nugget 0220 [Phil 2: 5-8 Amplified]

5Let this same attitude and purpose and [humble] mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus: [Let Him be your example in humility:]  6Who, although being essentially one with God and in the form of God [possessing the fullness of the attributes which make God God], did not think this equality with God was a thing to be eagerly grasped or retained,   7But stripped Himself [of all privileges and rightful dignity], so as to assume the guise of a servant (slave), in that He became like men and was born a human being.   8And after He had appeared in human form, He abased and humbled Himself [still further] and carried His obedience to the extreme of death, even the death of the cross!

The coming of Jesus into the world to save man from sin and restore him back to God was the most humble assignment ever undertaken Imagine a King who has to go rescue one of his servants held as a captive or a slave by another king of the least order.   The king going on the rescue mission humbles himself, takes the form of a servant in the captor king’s house and satisfies all monarchy and statutory requirements for the release of that servant.  Only after he paid the ultimate price of death does the captive servant realise that his master king had died to take his place because the captor king had appointed a day the captive servant would have been slain. The bible says the devil is the prince of this world and all human beings born into this world are subject to the law of sin and death administered by the devil. Only a comprehensive faith in the blood of Jesus will release you, because he came to take your place so that you do not need to be under bondage anymore. Jesus is the King of kings.   Jesus stripped himself of all the heavenly glory to come for the rescue mission of taking man back to God. Unfortunately some people do not want to take a ride with Jesus back to God in heaven.  That is the situation of the sinner until he accepts Christ. If you are already a Christian, imitate Christ in your attitude. Put on humility as your garment in dealing with others and let the beauty of Jesus be seen in you. The opposite of humility is pride and the master and chief actor of pride is Lucifer himself. He was in heaven and was driven out from heaven because of pride. The bible say’s pride precedes fall. Avoid all dealings with the enemy of your soul and be like the lowly God made man, Jesus.

Prayer Nugget 0220

Thank God for Jesus and ask God to remove every form of pride and fill you up with humility. Pray.

Thank you Father for making provision for my salvation by the death of Christ on the cross.  Lord Jesus, thank you for leaving all the glories of heaven to come to the earth and humbling yourself to die on the cross for me. Holy Spirit thank you for raising Jesus from the dead so that I have hope of a better life and resurrection.  Holy Spirit help me to live a life of humility and brokenness in Jesus Name. Remove from my life any affinity of sin and break every chord tying me to sin and the devil.   Grant me the grace to be humble in all areas of my life. I bind every spirit of pride that opposes the knowledge and work of God in my life in Jesus name. Let the cross be before me and the world behind me at all times in Jesus Name. Holy Spirit, fill the heart of your children with the spirit of humility so the heart of men and women will be drawn to you. Glorify your church by raising many people in the land to serve you because Jesus has paid for the ransom of their souls. Deliver the souls of men from the spirit of death, the grave and hell by their repentance in this life in Jesus Name. Amen.
