Graduates in the School of Faith

Bible Nugget 0228 [Hebrew 11: 32-37, KJV]

32And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:

33Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions.

34Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.

35Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:

36And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:

 37They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;

There are achievers and there are great achievers. Hebrew 11 is a roll call of great achievers for the kingdom of God. These were ordinary men like you and me. What distinguished them was their total submission to the will of God for their lives. Their hearts were transformed choosing to pursue God wholeheartedly. They pleased God with their faith in His Mighty Power.  When severe unfavorable situations confronted them, their faith increased to match the threat. They believed the LORD’s report and not the threats of their adversary. They refused to live in fear. For example, David when he was yet a youth confronted and killed a bear and then a lion. These were trainings so that when he confronted the giant Goliath  with a catapult and five pebbles while his opponent came against him with spears and arrows his faith rose to meet the challenges. This story is a classic and we highlight some verses as events occurred in 1 Samuel 17:1-58

1Now the Philistines gathered together their armies to battle, and were gathered together at Shochoh, which belongeth to Judah,…..

2And Saul and the men of Israel were gathered together, and pitched by the valley of Elah, and

4And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span.

5And he had an helmet of brass upon his head, and he was armed with a coat of mail; and the weight of the coat was five thousand shekels of brass.

8And he stood and cried unto the armies of Israel, and said unto them, Why are ye come out to set your battle in array? am not I a Philistine, and ye servants to Saul? choose you a man for you, and let him come down to me.

9If he be able to fight with me, and to kill me, then will we be your servants: but if I prevail against him, and kill him, then shall ye be our servants, and serve us.

David, being the youngest of the eight sons of Jesse, kept his father’s sheep and visited the battle field to bring lunch to his brothers. The whole camp of Israel were cringing in fear at the sound of the voice of Goliath, so that when David confronted Goliath, Goliath disdained David wondering whether this was the best Israel could offer in battle.

40And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd’s bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine.

41And the Philistine came on and drew near unto David; and the man that bare the shield went before him.

42And when the Philistine looked about, and saw David, he disdained him: for he was but a youth, and ruddy, and of a fair countenance.

43And the Philistine said unto David, Am I a dog, that thou comest to me with staves? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.

44And the Philistine said to David, Come to me, and I will give thy flesh unto the fowls of the air, and to the beasts of the field.

45Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.

46This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.

47And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD’s, and he will give you into our hands.

48And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came, and drew nigh to meet David, that David hastened, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine.

49And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth.

50So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David.

51Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. And when the Philistines saw their champion was dead, they fled.

Goliath knew Israel had a God and heard stories of how he delivered them from their enemies. He challenged everyone including King Saul to come fight him because he saw fear in their eyes. Fear cannot bring promotion. Goliath did not know that David’s faith was built solid on God and not in the sling and five stones.

No matter the situation you are in now, your faith can rise above the problem and secure your deliverance. God’s miracles are diverse. He knows the cord that is discordant in your life. Release yourself and let him have his way in your life. Continue to trust God and learn in his University of Faith.

Prayer Nugget 0228

Lord, help me to live a life of faith. I trust you wholeheartedly. I trust in your ability. You are the almighty God, most Holy, most powerful and praiseworthy. To you all nations and the inhabitants bow. None can withstand your power in battle and the fierceness of your anger. Send your fire to consume as stubble everything opposing my progress. Arise on my behalf and all your enemies will be scattered. Grant me high marks in your school of faith in Jesus name. Let me be a valiant soldier for Christ and march on into the battle to win the souls of men for your kingdom in Jesus name. Strengthen my hands in spiritual warfare so that a bow of steel will be broken by my hands. Make my feet like hinds feet so I can leap over walls. Grant me breakthroughs and deliverance from everyone too strong for me. Send angelic help to assist me in my hour of need in Jesus name. Amen.

The King’s Faithful Ambassador

Bible Nugget 0226 [2 Corinthians 5: 20-21, Amplified]
20So we are Christ’s ambassadors, God making His appeal as it were through us. We [as Christ’s personal representatives] beg you for His sake to lay hold of the divine favor [now offered you] and be reconciled to God.

21For our sake He made Christ [virtually] to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in and through Him we might become endued with, viewed as being in, and examples of] the righteousness of God [what we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness].

A faithful ambassador of a country represents the interest of his Country in another domain governed by a ruler other than the ruler of his country. It will be inimical if instead of representing the interest of his country, he begins to represent solely the interest of the country he was sent to. At times he might be just a messenger if the interest of his country is not to the overall good of both countries. In which case he has to state the facts as they are back to his home country.

In the above passage, it is clear God is appealing to Christian as ambassadors of Christ, [who represent the interest of Christ on earth after his ascension] to take full advantage of  his favor in reaching out to the world. It is like the president telling his ambassadors, “take full advantage of the resources of this country in reaching out to the place where you are sent to. The country is behind you. Faithfully represent the interest of this country. I have given you the best this country can offer”. Jesus is the best God offered to the world. The world without Jesus would be a dark and cruel place. It is already cruel enough, but it would have been much darker. The Christians are the flash of lights dotting the world, if one were to look from space into the world with spiritual telescope. Jesus is the light of the world and we are beaming the reflection of Jesus back to the world.

Two complementary passages of the duties of a spiritual ambassador are:

Prov 13:17 KJV

17A wicked messenger falleth into mischief: but a faithful ambassador is health.

Isiaah 33: 6-8 [amplified]

6And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the LORD is his treasure.

7Behold, their valiant ones shall cry without: the ambassadors of peace shall weep bitterly.

8The highways lie waste, the wayfaring man ceaseth: he hath broken the covenant, he hath despised the cities, he regardeth no man.

A faithful ambassador brings health (healing) between two countries. Some ambassadors are so skillful that they get sent over and over again to different countries to restore relationships between home country and host country. In which case he could be called: ambassador-extra ordinary. Are you fully representing the interest of Christ here on earth? Ask God to empower you more.

Prayer Nugget 0226

Father Lord, thank you for making me to be your representative here on earth.  Thank you for sending Jesus to lay his life down for me so I can live his life here on earth. Empower me to be more faithful in my duties as a Christian.  Let my light continue to shine to the world. I take full advantage of your favour.  Thank you for sending your Son to pay the price for my sins. Let my life reflect your glory in Jesus Name. Help me to be an ambassador of health and peace in Jesus Name. Amen

Encounter with the Almighty: A Mission Possible.

Bible Nugget 0222 [Job 42: 5 – 6, KJV]

5I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee.

6Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.

Whether one meets God or you hears his voice, the effects are alike. It is called an encounter with the Lord. You are caught between the Rock Himself who is the Rock of Ages and a hard place. If you flee from the Rock, you enter the territory of the enemy, that is the devil whose mission is to steal to kill and to destroy [John 10:10] but if you stay with the Rock, he melts and moulds you. Have you had an unforgettable encounter with the Lord?  How do you think God looks like if you encountered him face to face? An encounter with God leaves a permanent memory. It will be so vivid that you can say I know when it happened to me and nothing can remove that meeting from my spirit. You can hear of somebody and it has no direct relevance to you or you can hear of someone and it has a dumbfounding impact on your life. When you meet God you meet the greatest mirror, because he is a spiritual mirror who tells you what you are.

Job had an encounter with the Lord and was honest with himself. You must be honest with yourself and be ready to amend your ways for the encounter with God to be real.

When you have met the Lord, your life will be completely reversed, you will undergo complete overhaul; a new thing will begin to happen.  When Peter encountered Jesus he exclaimed depart from me for I am a sinner. Isaiah saw the Lord and said “Woe is me”, Ezekiel saw God and fell on his face; Daniel saw the Lord and said I was like a dead man. Paul when he was Saul of Tarsus met the Lord and the effect wore on and revamped the early church. Wouldn’t you like to have a special encounter with this unchanging changer himself? Pray fervently and let His presence fill your heart. He will leave an impression in your spirit that he has visited you.

Prayer Nugget 0222

Oh Lord opens my ears to hear your voice. Let the sound of your voice be sweet to my ears. I ask for your forgiveness in wandering away from your presence. My ears will not be dull of hearing anymore in Jesus Name. My eyes will see the glory of the Lord. Trample down every evil vintage in my life. Let me live on a higher ground where I can see you and have fellowship with you.  Every spiritual cataract disturbing my clear vision of the Almighty, clear in the Name of Jesus. Make my walk to be closer to you everyday. I will walk with you in the light of your word in Jesus Name. Amen.

Nature Obeys When It Is the Lord’s Business

Bible Nugget 0217 [Joshua 10 V 12 – 14 KJV]

12Then Joshua spoke to the Lord on the day when the Lord gave the Amorites over to the Israelites, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, be silent and stand still at Gibeon, and you, moon, in the Valley of Ajalon!

13And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the nation took vengeance upon their enemies. Is not this written in the Book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of the heavens and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day.

14There was no day like it before or since, when the Lord heeded the voice of a man. For the Lord fought for Israel.

We serve a Mighty God, the creator of thee universe who keeps all the heavenly bodies intact by his awesome power. He created all things by his spoken Word.  For example, God said, “Let there be light: and there was light” [Gen 1:3]. The sun, moon and stars continue to declare his glory and the marvel of his works [Psalm 19:1-6].  v1 says Joshua spoke to God concerning the issue at hand which was total defeat of their enemy.  Having cleared with God, Joshua spoke to the sun to delay its setting and the moon not to hasten its appearance. How glad God must have been to hear a man created in his own image speaking words of faith and calling on the works of God’s hand to obey him. God made man to have dominion over the work of his hands [Psalm 8:6] and God was pleased to honored Joshua faith.     Three issues come to mind reading verse 14.

1.      The Lord fought for Israel. We need to depend on God to grant us victory in all our battles. God has all the resources in heaven to do this including assigning angels on our behalf. God knows how to keep his creation going so that we can have victory.

2.      The Lord heeded the voice of a man. The Lord will always respond to a prayer of faith. Elijah was a man of like passion and the bible says he caused rain to cease for 3 years on the land when the people forsook God, and then caused rain to start again after 3 years. God can hear you and answer your prayer too.

3.      God still answers prayers today even if they are for “big” thing. All you need is to step up your faith to match the “big” thing, asking in the Name of Jesus. Jesus says whatever we ask the Father in his Name it will be done by God the Father. You can believe God for a miracle in your life today.

Prayer Nugget 0217
Oh Lord I magnify you and worship you for all your wondrous works. I marvel at the works of your hands- the sun, moon, stars and all the heavenly bodies. Lord, you are the Almighty and you are glorious in Holiness and fearful in Praises. Lord hearken unto my prayers and cause all your creation to cooperate with me until I obtain my breakthrough. Do dumbfounding miracles in my life that will glorify your name. I pray for victory in any battle your children may be going through. Raise a standard for your people and fight the battles for your people. Establish your people against the heathen and let the enemy be subdued under us in Jesus name. Let the earth be still and obey as we conquer and rejoice over the spoils of the enemy in Jesus Name. Amen.

Wisdom Fountain

GRACIOUS ORNAMENT

Wisdom Fountain 0112 [Proverbs 1 v 7-9, KJV]

7The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

8My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

9For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.

An ornament enhances beauty. God wants to beautify our lives with his salvation. The beginning of this beauty is to fear the Lord. Not the fear of the world, but Godly fear, meaning reverence of the Almighty in every area of our lives. It means to hate sin and any appearance of evil. Noah was one of such. He saw the evil that had taken hold of the world in his time, moved with Godly fear, prepared an ark and was saved from the destruction and wrath God poured on the earth for the sinfulness of men and women that caused God to regret that he created man. [Gen 6:1-8]. To experience godly fear require diligent assimilation and obedience of the Word of God. Say the following prayer of commitment to the God as follows:

Prayer of Faith 0112

Oh Lord thank you for the Holy Spirit that dwells in my heart. Grant me divine knowledge so that I may fearfully reverence you all the days of my life. Instruct me with the wisdom that will cause me to excel spiritually, in my marital life, socially and in the works of my hands.  Let your Holy Spirit remind me of your word and precept in meditation, thought and obedience in Jesus Name. Place your ornament of grace over my neck and shoulder, and let your grace abound in my life as I heed your word and precept in Jesus Name. I shall be abundantly satisfied with your goodness in Jesus Name. Amen.
