THE CHOICE IS YOURS

Psalm 5:12

12For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield

God has made man a free moral agent. He wants us to be able to make our choices. God does not impose anything on His creature. One thing I have observed about my God is that He tries to make the choice easy by allowing you to know the outcome of your choice, even before you choose.

For example, Exodus 20, verse 12 says “Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee”. It is your choice to do whatever you like, but the end result of your choice is not hidden from you. If you choose to obey your parents, you have the blessing of long life. If you choose to disobey, you will not blame your Creator for the out come.

Another example is in Deuteronomy 13:19 where the Bible says “I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life that both thou and thy seed may live.”

I pray that this record shall be in our favour in Jesus name. In this example God is helping us to make the choice by advising us to choose life. The choice of blessings will bring life .Life shall be your choice and mine in Jesus name. The preceding chapters (specifically, Deuteronomy, 28 verses 1-14), admonishes us on what we need to do to be blessed. We shall all be blessed as we obey His Word.

If you acknowledge that your righteousness is through the blood of Jesus, there is a blessing ahead of you. Why is this so? This is because the righteous has the mindset and heart of God. He wouldn’t do anything that displeases God. How is the nature of this blessing? The Psalmist fought so many battles in his life that he was very familiar with the weapons of warfare. A shield is a metal that can be moved around by the arm to protect one from various darts from the camp of the enemy. During warfare, darts or arrows can come from different directions. King David is trying to picture the favour of God from all directions. How would you feel, when you turn left or right you are met with favour. When you look back, favour is there and when you move forward, favour is waiting for you. This is awesome. It is beyond description. The favour of God shall truly surround us as a shield in Jesus name. Amen.
