Bible Trivia 03

Bible Nugget 0404

What are the Seven Bulwark of a Christian’s  Faith?

[2 Peter 1 : 5-8]

 5And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

 6And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

 7And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

8For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Fortify your faith in arithmetic progression with these Godly Characters like a fortified City with progressively higher outer walls.

1.      Virtue                          –         that is valour, [spiritual energy or manliness]. Philippians 4 v 13   I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

2.      Knowledge                   –         that is,  intelligence subject to the Holy Spirit

3.      Temperance                             –         that is, self control

4.      Patience                      –          that is, perseverance, steadfastness, endurance

5.      godliness                     –          the Godly nature of the man, Christ [ piety]

6.      Brotherly love         –           unfailing love affection for the brethren [Heb 13:1 Let brotherly love continue.]

7.      Charity                        –          that is, Agape love or Christian love not expecting to be paid back [Collosians 3:14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.]

Prayer Nugget 0404

1.      Oh Lord,  fortify my life with the virtue of [————, mention them one by one] in the mighty name of Jesus

2.      Every satanic arrow or arrow of the wicked directed to harm my faith, return back to the sender in the name of Jesus.

3.      Lord fill my heart with your love, I shall not be lacking in showing brotherly love or agape love in Jesus Name.

4.      Oh Lord, perfect my life with your character. Let me be your example on earth in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

The sanctification Process II – Your Responsibility

Bible Nugget 0402 [I Thessalonians 4: 1-8 KJV]
1Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.

 2For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.

 3For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:

 4That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;

 5Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:

 6That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.

 7For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.

 8He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.

The sanctification process is the responsibility of every believer after new birth in Christ. The will of God stated in verses 3 and 7 in the above scripture is that we should live a sanctified and holy life. There should be no excuses. During repentance every believer should take stock of his life and make sure he repents of every known sin. No extra baggage of sin should be taken in the life-long Christian journey with Christ. The commonly known sins which will prevent a person from going to heaven include the works of the flesh listed in Galatians 5: 19-21 (read it for yourself) and Rev 21:8

 8But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

However, many believers gloss over many sins as if they do not matter. Some even believe the theory of heretics who profess that “once saved, saved forever”. The truth is that no sin should be left handing over your head as a believer. The last verse of Galatians 5:21 makes one to understand that the lists of sins that will prevent someone from inheriting the kingdom of God are too many to recount. I took a stock of sins in my own life from a Prayer book, which actually should serve every believer as a deliverance manual, written by some Ministers in Christian Word Ministry. They have a free version of the manual on the Ministry’s website. Please visit their website www.christianword.org  and in the Box Prayer Book  click  the PDF or Word Format of the Part 2 Download Prayer Book,. Read the” A” to “Z” list of sins for yourself on pages 35-38 of the book and it will be clear to you the common sins easily omitted or brushed aside, not knowing that any of them could prevent someone from inheriting the Kingdom of God.

For example the “A” list of sins in the book includes the following:

abandonment, abduction, abhorrence of holy things, abhorring judgment, abomination, abortion, abusiveness, accusation, adulterous lust, adultery, afflicting others, aggravation, agitation, aiding and abetting sin, alcoholism, all unrighteousness, anger, animosity, anxiety, apprehension, argumentativeness, arrogance, assaults, astrology, atheism, avariciousness,

The “D” lists are:

dealing treacherously, deceit, deception, defamation, defeatism, defiantness, defiling, degrading, dejection, demon consciousness, demon worship, denying Jesus and His resurrection, dependencies, depravity, desecration of holy vessels, desires of this world, despair, despising God, His Name and His Word, despising spouse, despising neighbors, despising parents, despitefulness, despondency, destruction of the innocent, saints and holy things;  deviousness, disagreements, disbelief, discord, discouragement, discrediting, disdain, disgust, dishonesty, disliking the love of good men, disobedience, disobedient to God, disorderly, disputing, disregard of God’s work, disrespectfulness of God, disruptiveness,  dissension,  distantness, distrust, divining, divining for water with rods, divining for money, division, divorce, domineeringness, double-talking,  double mindedness, doubt, dread, driving men from true worship and inheritance,  drug abuse, drunkenness, duplicity, drinking blood,

And the “F” lists include

failure in duty,  failure to glorify God, false burdens, false compassion, falsehood, false praise, false responsibility, fantasizing, fantasy lust, fault finding, fear, fear of accusation, fear of condemnation, fear of disapproval, fear of man, fear of rejection, fear of failure, fear of reproof, fetishes, fighting, flattery, fleshliness, fooling self and/or others, foolishness,  following any ways of man, folly, forbidding the preaching of God’s Word, forcefulness, forgetting God and His work, fornication, forsaking the assembly, fortune telling, fraud, fretting, frigidity,  frustrations, fury,

These are just examples of listed sins. There are other demonic sins listed in pages 38-40 of the book and it will do you a world of good to pray out of your life every sin using the book as a guide. As verse 4 of the day’s bible nugget says, it is your responsibility; someone else cannot do it for you. The challenge is yours.

1Thessalonians 4:4

 4That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;

Carry out a check-up of your life. In fact, you should do this from time to time and run through the list of sins, for example in the reference prayer manual stated above and see areas of your shortcoming.  The LORD will empower you to live a Holy and sanctified life as you pour out your heart to him in repentance. Pray every known sin out of your life and appropriate to yourself the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

1 Corinthians 1:30

30But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

This is the way to way to go in the sanctification process to make you heaven bound! The LORD help you as you do this in Jesus Name. Amen.

Prayer Nugget 0402
Before you start praying, sing this song or any other song on holiness such as the Hymn Holy Holy Holy.
Song:
LORD prepare me, A sanctuary, Pure and Holy, Tried and True, with Thanksgiving, I will be a living, sanctuary for you.

Or the classical hymn  Holy, Holy, Holy

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee;
Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessèd Trinity!

Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore Thee,
Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;
Cherubim and seraphim falling down before Thee,
Who was, and is, and evermore shall be.

Holy, holy, holy! though the darkness hide Thee,
Though the eye of sinful man Thy glory may not see;
Only Thou art holy; there is none beside Thee,
Perfect in power, in love, and purity.

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
All Thy works shall praise Thy Name, in earth, and sky, and sea;
Holy, holy, holy; merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessèd Trinity!

[Reginald Heber, 1826]

Prayer Points

  1. Oh Lord empower me to live a life of holiness unto you. I repent of every sin I have committed in the past, known (list ——- every known sin) and unknown in Jesus Name.
  2. Satan I address you, I am not a candidate for hell fire. My destination is heaven. I command you to pack your evil load and get out of my life in Jesus Name.
  3. Oh LORD encase me with the purifying fire of you Holy Spirit. Every demonic power sent from the pit of Hell to deceive me, be roasted by fire in the name of Jesus.
  4. Begin to thank God for the Grace given to you to live a victorious life of holiness in Jesus name.

Love above Reproach

Bible Nugget 0318 [Rom 12:9-10, 16-21 KJV]

9Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.

 10Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

  16Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.

 17Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.

 18If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

 19Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

 20Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.

 21Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

The message of this nugget is directed mostly to believers but unbelievers will benefit as well. The above verses instruct us how to live a life above reproach so that believers can maintain healthy relationships with one another and with the world.  The fact is that a spirit different from the world’s spirit governs a child of God. The Spirit of God dwells inside our hearts and is the best guide to handle everyday challenges the world throws at you, either from believers or unbelievers. Just as love is the key to pleasing God, love should be the overriding motive in our relationships with one another as brethren and with the world. A child of God ought to be driven by love; true love that can cover the sins of the offender. The offended is superior in character than the offender as long as he does not behave as the offender. A heart full of love does not defame, strife, bear grudges, keep malice, backbite or slander another person. These are things people in the world do to gain control of one another.

Even in our relationship with the world, true love beyond what the other person expects is a better way to relate because as v19-21 says, it is better to trust God to vindicate you from your enemies or persecutors. Just show love and let God do the rest.  Place the thought of the sacrifice of Christ in your mind, and you see that your love to the person who is or has offended you is small. Such type of love is in the sight of God judgment if the other person does not repent. You can show love without compromising your faith. Jesus in his earthly ministry showed the love of God to those who did not deserve it. The Vice Chancellor of the University I attended used to say, “Jesus ate with sinners but was not mistaken for one”. The person may think you are foolish or mad, but he or she is wrong. The Apostle Paul speaking to the Corinthian Christians said:

2 Corinthians 5:13-15

13For whether we be beside ourselves, it is to God: or whether we be sober, it is for your cause.

 14For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:

 15And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

Has anyone offended you and you find it difficult to forgive? Or are you tired of showing love because the other person does not reciprocate. I am not saying be blind to the evil that people do to you. Take the issue to the Lord in prayer if it is very difficult to forgive the person. He will remove the pain from your heart. The act of forgiveness is love itself, so if you have forgiven and the person does not change, then coals of fire from the Lord is what the person deserves. Also remember, after taking these right steps, that you need to forgive yourself and do not allow the burden to linger on because it is an avenue of Satan taking advantage of your joy and peace.

Prayer Nugget 0318

1.      Chose to forgive and confess your sins to God. Ask God to give you the ability to forgive even the most tormenter of persons who has hurt you.

2.      Pray as follows: “Oh Lord, I forgive _________ (mention the person’s name) who hurt me.  I release them totally from my spirit in Jesus name.

3.      I receive divine ability to love beyond measure. Grant me a life of love, peace and joy in Jesus Name.

4.  Oh Lord, let the love of Christ constrain me in every aspect of my Christian conduct. Beautify my heart with divine love even against those who do not deserve it in Jesus Name. Amen.

GOD’S DUNAMIS FOR SALVATION

Bible Nugget 0115 [Romans 1 v 16-17 (KJV)]

16For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

 17For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

 The gospel of Christ is the power line of God for transforming souls from death to life. For the unsaved if you believe in your heart and confess that the Lord Jesus is the Son of God, who died for your sins and resurrected from death by the power of God [Rom 10:9], you will be saved. After salvation, pray that you celebrate your salvation daily and impact other people around with the gospel.

Prayer of Faith

Lord thank you for the dynamic power of your word transforming my life daily. Thank you for your word that has changed my life and situation for the better. My life will never be the same again in Jesus Name. I press forward daily. I am fulfilled in Christ and I rejoice in that I have been saved to serve you solely and wholly. Lord, reveal yourself to me in a new way from one level unto a higher level in Jesus Name. I reject spiritual laziness. I move from one degree of glory to another degree of glory. Make my life a citadel of your power. Let my mouth proclaim your word boldly. Empower my spirit to bear witness of you in my generation to all persons no matter their race, gender, tribe, social class or religion in Jesus Name. Amen.

JESUS, THE PERFECT GIFT TO MANKIND

Bible Nugget 0106 [John 3: 16 – 21, KJV]

16For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

 17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

 18He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

 19And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

 20For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

 21But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

Our God is a merciful and loving God. His desire is that everybody be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. When Adam and Eve fell in the Garden of Eden they lost fellowship with God and became alienated from God. They also became servants to a new master, the devil who put a mark of ownership on them; sin, death and eternal separation from God for the unrepentant.  God sent his Son into the world to reconcile mankind back to God.  He gave mankind the very best gift, His only begotten Son, full of the Grace of God. Rejecting the Son of God is an eternal death sentence one places on him or herself. Believing and accepting Jesus will usher you into God’s kingdom and you become a member of the family of God. Let him into your heart and darkness will have no hiding place. Why not accept Jesus today if you have not done so already. Make him the centre point of your life to which all other things revolve and enjoy the peace he gives.

Prayer of Faith 0106

Pray the following sinner’s prayer and become a member of the family of God.

Oh Lord, I come to you in the Name of Jesus. I come without any plea of my righteousness. Cleanse me from all my sins with your precious blood.  I renounce and cut off every fellowship with darkness. Let your glorious light shine on me. Thank you Father LORD for my salvation is assured by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, your only begotten Son. Thank you LORD for making me to see the glorious light of the gospel. Shine you light perpetually on me in Jesus Name.

THE TREE OF MY LIFE SHALL NOT WITHER

Wisdom  Fountain 0104 [Psalm 1:1 – 6, KJV]

1Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

 2But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

 3And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

 4The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

 5Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

 6For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

This chapter of the Holy Bible begins the Psalms and defines the man who wants to walk with the Lord, stand where the Lord stands and seat where the Lord sits. As you put the words of this chapter into your memory, read and pray other chapters in the Psalm for yourself, talk to God with this prayer.

Prayer Points 0104

1.     Lord I draw inner strength from you in Jesus name. I delight in you all the days of my life in Jesus name.

2.    My tree has deep roots and will continually draw from the wells of salvation in Jesus name. Lord have mercy and save such as you have appointed to be saved in Jesus name.

3.  I shall be distinguished by my walk with you from those that do not know you and those who have made up their minds to reject you in Jesus name. They shall bow down at my gate in Jesus name. Amen.
