Monday, December 29, 2014 by Joseph Agbi Leave a Comment

THEME:  2015 MY YEAR OF WALKING IN COMFORT & GREAT GRACE

Acts 9:31 Then had the churches rest throughout all Judaea and Galilee and Samaria, and were edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost, were multiplied.

Complete in Christ

Complete in Christ

Bible Nugget 021114 [Gen. 1:26; Col. 2:9-10]

The above two verses are closely matched in regard to our salvation in Christ.

Genesis 1:26 says ” And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness”.

Colossians 2:9-10  9For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. 10And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

From the above verses, you see that there is a resemblance between God and man. That resemblance, not necessarily in facial appearance, was fully expressed in the man, Christ. The risen Christ has God’s full image, therefore has all the wisdom, power and all other attributes associated with the Godhead.

Notice that it was God who said He wanted to create man in his image and likeness. Man did not have a choice in his creation that he should be formed in God’s image just as a baby born of its parents has no choice in its birth.

However, Adam, the first man, sinned and fell short of God’s glory and image, through disobedience, enlisting all of mankind in the fall (Rom 3:23). God sent Jesus, His Son, who is part of the Godhead to restore the full image of God back in man (Rom 6:23).

How does the process of salvation work? By accepting Jesus into your heart you become an adopted son of God because He sees Christ in you. You become an heir of God and a joint heir with Christ (Rom 8:17). As you daily walk with Him, allowing His word to transform your heart, you nature becomes more and more like God’s. Your intimacy with Christ ultimately makes the difference on how closely that resemblance to the Godhead you will have(Gen. 1:26; Col. 2:9-10)

Prayer Points 021114

Pray this prayer of appreciation to God for creating you as a human being carrying a body, soul and spirit from the depth of your heart. Also thank him for sending Jesus into the world to die for your sins.

“Lord I bless your holy name. I worship you in the beauty of your holiness. I magnify you Father, Son and Holy Spirit for creating me in your image and likeness. Thank you for giving me the precious gift of your Holy Spirit. Thank you making me complete in Christ who is the fullness of the Godhead. You are my Father, I have the mind of Christ and you have given me the Comforter, the Holy Spirit. I will not allow sin to rob me of your glory in my life. I will attain unto the full measure of Christ in my life in Jesus name. I stand in you complete and reject every accusation of the enemy in Jesus name. I work out my salvation with godly fear in Jesus name. Amen.”

Arise and Shine!

Saturday, July 12, 2014 by Esther Agbi Leave a Comment

Arise and Shine!

Luke 15:1- 32 “I will arise and go…..”

I want to take a closer look at the word ‘arise’. This is the word people use now and then without having to think very deeply. A young child I suppose would understand when you ask him/her to rise.

For you to rise, it either means you were not in an upstanding position or you are not where you need to be at a certain time. It implies that there has to be a positional change. The position you are arising from could be a lying down one, sitting, low levels or general dissatisfaction or a desire to simply have an upward change in position. The Lord shall give us a positive positional change in Jesus Name.

From this passage above, The Lord told us the story of how the younger brother of two siblings took his portion of his dad’s inheritance and went away to a far country. Having been there for a period of time, he squandered the money until he became a pauper, eating what the animals he was caring for would eat. He did this for as long as he could until it dawned on him to arise and go to his father to apologize.

It is one thing to realize that you need to arise. Something must follow that action. No one arises and remains in the same position or even stand still. You have to do something. The prodigal son came to his senses, he arose and what followed? He went to his father.

You and I have to look inwards, examine our lives to see what we need to arise from. It could be a lackadaisical attitude to things generally. Is it a ‘besetting sin’ (Heb. 12:1) as the Bible calls it? It could even be our spiritual, emotional or even financial conditions. What is that thing you are dissatisfied with? It is time for you to arise from it and have an action plan.

The action plan for the prodigal son was to arise and go to his father. What is yours?

It is so amazing to me what followed next. The desire of the son was to ask for forgiveness, then probably his father would hire him as one of his servants. His father gave him more than he anticipated.

The father ran and met the son on the way, made a great feast for him on his return, placed the best robe on him and even shoes on his feet. He was interested in his son’s whole being. His father even gave him a ring to put on. What a beautiful sight! Why don’t you rise up and go to God, your Father and He will meet you on the way to welcome you. I pray the Lord would beautify your life with His goodies just as this son was transformed into beauty. He would give you much more than you deserve or expect.

1 Corinth 2:9 ‘Eye hath not seen nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man the things which God hath prepared for them that love him’

John 15:15 ‘I no longer call you servants……..Instead I have called you friends. We shall truly be His friends in Jesus name.
In any area where we have lost the glory of the lord, He is willing to restore us back to glory as we acknowledge our sins and come to Him in humility.

Arise, shine for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee. (Isaiah 60:1)

I pray that the light of the Lord upon us will cause our faces to shine and we would reflect His glory at all times in Jesus name. Amen.

Prayer:
Oh Lord, Forgive me my wrong doings. I arise and come to you in humble submission, in Jesus name.

DO NOT FOLLOW THE MULTITUDE TO DO EVIL

Friday, December 27, 2013 by Joseph Agbi Leave a Comment

Do not follow the multitude to do evil

By David Agbi

Exodus 23: 1-2
…2 Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest judgment.

Someone has been accused of a crime. You know he is innocent, along with the whole story of what really happened. Everyone is saying he did it and lying about what happened. As a child of God, what do you do? Do you sit there and go along with the group or do you stand up for him and say what really happened, no matter the circumstances or consequences such as losing your close friends? This happens much too often and many of us follow the multitude because we do not have
enough courage to stand up, even though God wants us to.

Joshua 1:6 Be strong and of a good courage…

God wants us to have courage such as what Joshua, Caleb and Moses had, but many others in life and in the Bible did not muster enough courage to do what is right and then made excuses. Excuses get us nowhere and God does not listen or accept them. There is no excuse for doing sin. Some people such as Aaron, followed the multitude to do evil in the case of the golden calf saying, “This was their gods who delivered them out of Egypt (Exodus 32). Another example was king Saul. Instead of waiting for Samuel to come sacrifice, he took matters into his own hands and sacrificed by himself instead of waiting. When Samuel came just after the sacrifice and asked him why he had done this, Saul said that the people pressured me to sacrifice (1 Samuel 13). Instead of these people to do the right thing that God commanded, they did the wrong thing, and to make matters worse, they covered up their sin with excuses. God said that by our words we shall be justified and by our words, we shall be condemned (Matthew 12: 37).

We are not perfect. We will make mistakes. But what do we do from there? Nowadays, it is too common to make excuses for your mistakes (I, myself do this too), but what we need to realize is that we have to do the right thing as children of God. God expects us to do the right thing, no matter what the circumstances are. He wants us to step out of the crowd and be different. This is no easy task, but we have many examples to refer to. There are no excuses. If you do not follow the multitude to do evil, there is a reward, but if you do evil along with them, then there is a punishment. What do you want, the reward or the punishment?

God wants us to follow him and be blameless/perfect as Abraham was (Genesis 17:1)

My prayer for you is that we ask God to lead us in the right direction and follow him wholeheartedly so that we can know what the right decision is in Jesus name. Amen.

Do good and not evil!
