“Thy word have I hidden in my heart that I may not sin against thee [Psalm 119 v 11].”

What do people usually hide if I may ask? Something precious, Jewelries, China wares, Certificates, etc. Things that are precious are held with high regard. In some homes, expensive china wares are not used on a daily basis. They are reserved for functions or festivities like Christmas parties, family re-union or visitors. When the mum of the home pulls out such plates, the children begin to ask, who are we expecting mum? Some people store jewelries in the bank because it is treasured and of high value. I lay down and slept, yet I woke up in safety, for the Lord was watching over me. Psalm 3:5 [New living Translation]

There are many things we usually take for granted. One of them is the ability to sleep and wake up. The Psalmist has made us to understand that it is not by any effort of ours that we go to bed and we are up the next morning. It is by the mercies of the Almighty God. Having a place to rest our heads is one thing, then, falling asleep is another. There are some people who do not have homes or houses they go to at the end of the day. The more time you spend with someone, the better assessment one has about that person. First impression is not always the right one. Most people try hard to give a good and lasting impression the first time because human beings are not usually very patient to study one before they criticize. You could imagine someone going for a job interview, getting well dressed and just a few feet away from the venue, he is splashed with muddy water. Time is of essence. If he decides to go home and change his clothing, he might be late. On the other hand, if he decides to appear before the panel, looking untidy as a result of the incident, he will not give a good impression. Strength and Courage [IV]

5 There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.  6 Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.  7Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper withersoever thou goest. [Joshua 1:5-7]

There is another form of inner strength we get as we diligently serve the LORD. It is called courage. Strength and courage are essential ingredients to make it in life. The two must be present and complement each other in an individual. If you are strong without much courage, you will see an opponent who may challenge and defeat you because of his courage. Strength [III]

10Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our LORD: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.

1The king shall joy in thy strength, O LORD; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice! Psalm 21:1 KJV

One of the instruments of drawing divine strength is the joy of the LORD. The original Hebrew word for strength in these passages is ‘mawoze’which translated means a fortified place – a defense, fortress, rock, strength or stronghold.
