DO NOT FOLLOW THE MULTITUDE TO DO EVIL

Friday, December 27, 2013 by Joseph Agbi Leave a Comment

Do not follow the multitude to do evil

By David Agbi

Exodus 23: 1-2
…2 Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest judgment.

Someone has been accused of a crime. You know he is innocent, along with the whole story of what really happened. Everyone is saying he did it and lying about what happened. As a child of God, what do you do? Do you sit there and go along with the group or do you stand up for him and say what really happened, no matter the circumstances or consequences such as losing your close friends? This happens much too often and many of us follow the multitude because we do not have
enough courage to stand up, even though God wants us to.

Joshua 1:6 Be strong and of a good courage…

God wants us to have courage such as what Joshua, Caleb and Moses had, but many others in life and in the Bible did not muster enough courage to do what is right and then made excuses. Excuses get us nowhere and God does not listen or accept them. There is no excuse for doing sin. Some people such as Aaron, followed the multitude to do evil in the case of the golden calf saying, “This was their gods who delivered them out of Egypt (Exodus 32). Another example was king Saul. Instead of waiting for Samuel to come sacrifice, he took matters into his own hands and sacrificed by himself instead of waiting. When Samuel came just after the sacrifice and asked him why he had done this, Saul said that the people pressured me to sacrifice (1 Samuel 13). Instead of these people to do the right thing that God commanded, they did the wrong thing, and to make matters worse, they covered up their sin with excuses. God said that by our words we shall be justified and by our words, we shall be condemned (Matthew 12: 37).

We are not perfect. We will make mistakes. But what do we do from there? Nowadays, it is too common to make excuses for your mistakes (I, myself do this too), but what we need to realize is that we have to do the right thing as children of God. God expects us to do the right thing, no matter what the circumstances are. He wants us to step out of the crowd and be different. This is no easy task, but we have many examples to refer to. There are no excuses. If you do not follow the multitude to do evil, there is a reward, but if you do evil along with them, then there is a punishment. What do you want, the reward or the punishment?

God wants us to follow him and be blameless/perfect as Abraham was (Genesis 17:1)

My prayer for you is that we ask God to lead us in the right direction and follow him wholeheartedly so that we can know what the right decision is in Jesus name. Amen.

Do good and not evil!

The Miracle of Five Loaves and Two Fishes

Wednesday, March 27, 2013 by Esther Agbi Leave a Comment

Bible Text: John 6 : 1-14

Before reading this message, my question to you is, “What do you have to give to Jesus that He would multiply to propagate the work of His kingdom?”

The Bible passage above is about the miracle done by Jesus Christ when he fed 5,000 people by sharing five loaves of bread and two small fishes. The miracle is outstanding because it shows the limitation and helplessness of man when faced with a challenge of immeasurable proportion! Jesus asked one of His disciples, Phillip, of what  should be done to feed the throng of people at His crusade. This was to test Phillip’s faith, but he failed the test like any of his disciples did and we would have done. Phillip answered Jesus, “Two hundred pennies’ (forty dollars) worth of bread is not enough that everyone may receive even a little [John 6:7, Amplified version].” Another disciple of Jesus came close to the answer but receded back to unbelief; Andrew answered, “There is a little boy here, who has [with him] five barley loaves, and two small fish; but what are they among so many people [John 6:9, Amplified version]?” Jesus knew what to do all along, but waited for His disciples to answer first! Thereafter, He performed the miracle using a young boy’s lunch and dinner pack.

I come from one of the developing countries in the world. It is developing because we are not quite there yet, but we are making progress and one day, we would get there. We just celebrated it’s 50th birthday anniversary of independence three years ago. Sometimes the police man pulls you over. They do not always have a reason for pulling you over, but somehow you are pulled over. They begin to ask you all the legitimate questions like your driver’s license, insurance particulars for the car and so on. When the police man sees that you have all of those (particulars)items, he then proceeds to ask for inconsequential things like fire extinguisher, bill of Landing of the vehicle and  broom  or brush with which you use to clean up the car. I am not joking. This is for real because it happened to me. After all said and done, his next question would be “What do you have to grease my palm?” He is indirectly asking for a gift from you or a bribe. This time, forcefully or you will not be released from his presence until he gets something from you.

This has never happened to me where I currently reside. This is one of the G-8 countries. It is not that the policemen are perfect, but they pull you over for a reason. It is either you are driving too fast for the speed zone or you beat a traffic light or something else. They have never asked me to pay the fine directly to them, better still, you get the ticket in the mail and you know what to do thereafter.

Back to our passage: This young lad was going to hear Jesus speak. I would believe his mom put together his lunch so he could stay longer if the program persisted. They say mothers know best, and the program went beyond lunch time. This young lad willingly lent his food to Jesus. Jesus blessed the food and fed the multitude and recovered 12 baskets full of bread. What do you have? This young boy gave all his Lunch and was blessed beyond his greatest imagination. Some bible scholars believe that the 12  baskets recovered after the feeding may have been given to him to take back home.

In impoverished countries, the police take from you to consume or use for his personal benefit. Jesus is asking you to give to him that he may multiply it and bless you in return. This shall be your portion and mine this Easter period and always in Jesus Name. Peter lent his boat to Jesus and he got a net breaking miracle [Luke 5:1-6], Obededom lent his house to God when the Ark of God was brought back to Jerusalem [2 Samuel 6:11] and blessings never ceased from his home. These are but a few examples in the Bible. Proverbs 11:24 says “There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.” What do you have that he has not given to you? All blessings come from God. Jesus gave all that he had for mankind. He left the glory he had with his Father and came to earth to rescue man from sin and death. He died on the cross and resurrected that whoever believes on him might have the hope of resurrection and eternal life. Are you willing to give him your heart so that he could bless you beyond your greatest imagination?

A friend of mine once told me that she was doing so well in her business in the  late 90’s. I believe it was kind of making her somewhat proud. Then her husband called her and said “My wife, all that you have are mine. Is it the Kerosene business, the elementary school you are trying to start as a business and even the children we have are all mine”(paraphrase). So where is the place for pride? This is so true with us. All we have belong to God. Everyone will give his or her heart to God someday, either willingly or forcefully. Be wise and choose right!  In this Easter season, and always, give to God your very best in your service to Him whatever that service might be.  Stay blessed.

 Prayer Points

1.        Oh Lord, fill my heart with faith in every spiritual challenge I am faced with in the name of Jesus.

 2.      Lord, strengthen my faith that You will miraculously provide as I share what you have freely given to me with others for your Kingdom’s sake in the name of Jesus.

WHY JESUS’ BIRTH WAS SPECIAL

Thursday, December 27, 2012 by Joseph Agbi Leave a Comment

WHY JESUS’ BIRTH WAS SPECIAL

Written by: David Agbi

We have seen many births in our time. The joy of a baby entering into the world is satisfying for everyone involved. Although it is exciting, many babies had come and gone by the time Jesus was born and this was a common thing to happen. So what made Jesus’ birth so special?

In Isaiah 7:14-15, Isaiah tells King Ahaz that a virgin will conceive and bear a son and shall call his name Immanuel. This prophesy was fulfilled when the angel Gabriel told Mary that she was going to have a son and should call his name JESUS. The prophesy said so long ago was finally fulfilled when Mary, a virgin, married Joseph and called her newborn son JESUS. The Holy Ghost also enveloped her and her son would be called the Son of God [Luke 1:35]. If that was said to you, would you believe? That is the controversy in today’s world.

Another thing that made Jesus’ birth so special was the shepherds along with the wise men. They are both interesting stories. The shepherds, talked about in Luke, were in their fields when an angel came and told them about Jesus being born. After this, they visited Baby JESUS, told others and praised God. In the wise men’s case, talked about by Matthew, coming from the east (Orient) asked King Herod where the King of the Jews was. Herod was furious and told them to find the child, that he may come worship him (so that he could kill him later). They followed the star to where Jesus laid and they worshipped him, and brought gold, frankincense and myrrh. Being warned not to return to Herod, they went their own way; God was protecting Jesus! In both cases, they came to see him and they had exceeding great joy.

The other thing that made Jesus’ birth so special was how he was born. Joseph, who was thinking on putting Mary away privately, had an angel visit him saying not to be afraid of taking Mary as her wife and that which was conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost [Matt. 1:20]. Also, Jesus was born in a manger, for there was no room in the inn. He was born not only in a manger, but he was born where animals would stay. This is very spectacular; the Son of God being inside a small baby and taking on the form of man! Jesus’ job of coming down was to save the people from their sins and this could only be done by someone with no sin (we are all sinners except for Jesus).

There are many other reasons why Jesus’ birth was so special. Imagine how the world and heaven must have rejoiced at the birth of a child! So for all that are wondering why Jesus’ birth was special, look at all the evidence. For the Son of God to come down in the form of a man and growing like a normal person is very dumbfounding for many people. There is a lot of controversy between if Jesus was really God and if his birth was not really spectacular. I for one, think his birth was not only a reality, but also think he is the Saviour. No matter what side you stand, remember what Jesus said “Blessed are they that have not seen, yet have believed”[John 20:29]!

CHRISTIAN PARENTING [PART III]

Tuesday, November 13, 2012 by Joseph Agbi Leave a Comment

Christian Parenting [Part III] by Pastor Godwin Okafor

I am bringing the third part of the excerpts from my soon to be published book dealing with the art of ministering prayers to babies and children, even while they are in the wombs of their mothers.
When children who have been initiated in their mothers’ wombs, because of lack of the type of prayers I suggest in this book grow up, they exhibit characteristics that would normally confuse their parents, who could ignorantly go to the same satanic agents for solution. Of course, the church, whose ministers are the agents of the Kingdom of Light, would just sit down and look in confusion at the fiasco that would normally unfold in such cases. The confusion emanates from our mistake to try to deal with the child according to its age and not according to the age of the spirit inhabiting that child, no matter what the physical age of the child could be.
That’s the reason a little child of less than two years could be so aggressive and rain blows on another timid child of over three years old, and that one could just cry to attract the attention of adults to rescue him or her.
I have been told of how a three year old little girl embarrassed her mother by waving at every pregnant woman they passed on their way to where her mum was going with her. The little girl could see the babies in those wombs and would greet them. She would say to her mother,
“Mummy, see baby…”,
and would wave at the protruding tummy of a woman just passing by. I was told how people who overheard that little girl gathered quickly, and this embarrassed mother had to run for her dear life with her three year old child before she and her little girl were lynched as witches.
I believe the church is yet to seriously consider the plight of our children who have peculiar spiritual challenges, and who present strange behaviours in our midst. In fact, I dare say that children are hardly considered in the Christian Ministry, except in few places where provisions are made for bible based activities aimed at diverting their attention and contain or re-channel their excessive energies, until their parents close from church services.
It is pitiful that children are often times hindered or totally forbidden from coming to the Master, through His ministers to minister to them according to their needs. I was reminded while writing this book that most Christian parents may actually deny that a child in their household who has a peculiar spiritual challenge need special attention by their pastor.
However, the foundation of Christian living ought to be laid at this stage of a child’s development so that he or she grows up never to depart from the ways of the LORD.
Children, including the unborn, usually want to express themselves. It was written of Jacob and Esau that they “struggled” in their mother’s womb before they were born.
Gen 25:21-23: “The babies jostled each other within her, and she said, “Why is this happening to me?” So she went to inquire of the LORD. The LORD said to her, “Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples from within you will be separated; one people will be stronger than the other, and the older will serve the younger.”
Did you know what made John the Baptist leap for joy while in Elizabeth’s womb? He heard the sound of Mary’s voice as she greeted his mother!

Luke 1:40-41,44: “… where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit… As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy.”
Mary’s voice carried an anointing that could make Elizabeth to be filled with the Holy Spirit and to begin to prophecy, because she was carrying in her womb the one who anointed and still anoints with Holy Ghost and Fire. Did you know that Mary could have spoken to John in the womb to do something she desired? Agents of Satan who carry evil anointing know how to speak to unborn babies in their mothers’ wombs to do their sinister biddings, and they would obey.
Moses’ mother must have started interacting with him while he was in her womb. Therefore, it was easy for her to just look at him after he was born to conclude that Moses was not an ordinary child, and did not fear if Pharaoh found out that she was hiding him from being destroyed and killed her. I believe she had started ministering to him so early (even in the womb), and easily concluded his spiritual training (when Pharaoh’s princess hired her to look after Moses), before surrendering him to Pharaoh’s palace for his princely training.

The LORD, God, will help us in Jesus’ precious name.

CHRISTIAN PARENTING [PART II]

Tuesday, August 14, 2012 by Joseph Agbi Leave a Comment

CHRISTIAN PARENTING [PART II] Author: Pastor Godwin Okafor

Today, I continue my write up on Christian Parenting. I am not just writing about child upbringing in the world, which is mainly based on the psychology of children, but on Christian upbringing of their children in godly manners. Why has it been difficult for godly parents to “produce” godly children? This had bothered me for many years, especially after noticing that the “bad kids” come from the homes of ministers of God. I will be bringing excepts from my forthcoming major book, which centres on ministering prayers to children and babies, right from the womb. Prayer is spiritual forth-telling of what would become of something, situation, including a child being prayed for. Enjoy your reading of these pieces.

Matt 19:14: “… Let the little children come to me,
and do not hinder them,… “
said Jesus.

Ministering to children, especially babies, (including those in the womb), is a very challenging matter. It has become too complex, and is almost non-existent in many Christian circles, as the enemy of mankind becomes more subtle in his sinister dealings with earth men, as the last days approach. This is more so, because of the erroneous assumption that the child is innocent till he or she attains the so called “Age of Accountability”. Yet many things, too difficult to explain, happen to children before this age arrives, even while they are still in the wombs of their mothers. The bible affirms that even the unborn child is already tainted by sin, and that God requires that the unborn child should be taught wisdom, even from its mother’s womb.

Ps 51:5-6: “Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me. Surely you desire truth in the inner parts; you teach me wisdom in the inmost place.”

Yes, God is concerned about the unborn child, and had to send an angel to Samson’s mother before he was conceived, to watch what she ate and drank, because of Samson’s special mission to His people. The doctors still tell expectant mothers today to watch what they eat and drink in order to ensure they had a healthy baby.

Judges 13:3-5: “The angel of the LORD appeared to her and said, ‘You are sterile and childless, but you are going to conceive and have a son. Now see to it that you drink no wine or other fermented drink and that you do not eat anything unclean, because you will conceive and give birth to a son. No razor may be used on his head, because the boy is to be a Nazirite, set apart to God from birth, and he will begin the deliverance of Israel from the hands of the Philistines.’”

David, the psalmist, said that wickedness could start right from the womb when a child “does not know anything”, according to our estimation.

Psalm 58:3: “Even from birth the wicked go astray; from the womb they are wayward and speak lies.”

David seemed to have very deep insights beyond the ordinary person. I believe that was why he was said to be a man after God’s own heart, as the Almighty found him. David seemed to see what only God saw. Should it be a wonder then, if the spirit of an unborn child is initiated into witchcraft or any other evil cult before it is born? We need the Holy Spirit to help us, lest we perish in gross ignorance, wondering and bemused. God desires that unborn children be spoken to, or taught the truth while still in the womb. God is spirit, just as His word is spirit. While a child is unborn, it is more spirit than body; that spirit could learn spiritual truths or wisdom that no flesh could hardly comprehend or interpret. However, the wisdom taught or learned by the unborn child could be demonic and can easily be used against mankind in future. To counter this situation, Christian parents or ministers should learn and practice speaking positive spiritual truths to their unborn children.

Psalm 51:6: “Surely you desire truth in the inner parts; you teach me wisdom in the inmost place.”

It is regrettable to note that the agents of the dark kingdom seem to know this more than the agents of the kingdom of light, and exploit it to contaminate the unborn children, whom they initiate into the dark kingdom while still in the womb, awaiting their birth into the earth’s atmosphere. The spirit of the unborn is older than its physical age, because God’s Spirit, which He breathed into man when he was created, and which gave man life (and which brought man’s spirit into being), is ageless.
